Record a payment
Log a full or part payment against an invoice, and see what's still outstanding.
When a client pays, record it on the invoice. The status and the outstanding balance update, and the money counts in your dashboard and reports.
Record a payment
Open Billing → Invoices and select the invoice.
Select Record payment.
Check the Amount — it starts at the full outstanding balance. Change it for a part payment.
Set the Date the money arrived, and the Method: card, bank transfer, cash, mobile money, cheque or other.
Select Record payment.
The invoice becomes Partially Paid, or Paid once payments cover the total.
Mark as paid
If the client has paid everything, select Mark as paid instead. It records a payment for whatever is still outstanding and marks the invoice Paid in one step.
Payment history
Every invoice shows a Payments panel with:
- how much has been paid of the total, and how much is outstanding
- a progress bar
- each payment with its method and date
Good to know
- You can't overpay. A payment can't be more than the outstanding balance — you'll see "Payment can't exceed the outstanding balance of …".
- Paid and cancelled invoices don't show Record payment or Mark as paid.
- Recording a payment while editing: on the edit screen, choosing Partially Paid lets you enter a Payment received now, and choosing Paid records the rest. Existing payments are never removed.
- Payments can't be edited or deleted once recorded, so check the amount before saving.
- Overdue invoices stay overdue until they're paid in full, even after a part payment.
