End of day

Count the drawer, close the register, and read the end-of-day report.

At the end of the day, count the cash, close the register, and check the report.

Close the register

Open Sell → Point of Sale and select Close register in the bar at the top.

Check the summary:

LineMeaning
Balance b/fCash carried forward from the last close
Float addedExtra cash put in when the register was opened
Cash salesThe cash part of every sale this session
Cash refundsCash given back to customers
Expected cashWhat should be in the drawer
Expected cash = Balance b/f + Float added + Cash sales − Cash refunds

Count the drawer and enter it in Counted cash. The Variance shows the difference from expected.

In Cash paid out / banked, enter any cash you're taking out of the drawer — to bank or put in the safe. Select Pay out everything to empty the drawer. Carries forward shows what will be left for tomorrow.

If the count doesn't match, give a reason — it's required when the drawer is short or over. Otherwise the Note is optional.

Select Close register.

Before you close

  • Parked carts are discarded when the register closes. You're told how many first.
  • Sales from this session can no longer be refunded at the till.

Short or over

  • Short — less cash than expected. Common reasons: wrong change given, a cash refund not rung up.
  • Over — more cash than expected. Double-check the count first: a typo such as 721922 for 7219.22 shows as a huge overage.

Whatever you count, minus what you pay out, carries into tomorrow's balance forward. The next person to open the register sees a note if the last close was short.

Forgot to close yesterday?

If a register is still open from an earlier day, the Point of Sale shows "End of day pending for …" and won't allow new sales. Select Close register, count the drawer as it is now, and close it. Then open the register for today.

The end-of-day report

Open Sell → End of day. It opens on today; use the date box or Prev, Today and Next to see another day. If you have more than one store, choose All stores or a single store.

The report shows:

  • Totals — Balance b/f, Gross sales, Discounts, Tax collected, Net total, Refunds, Total received, Change paid out and Closing balance.
  • Payments — sales and amounts for each payment method.
  • Refunds — each refund with its reason, time and method.
  • Cash drawer — every register session that day: B/F, Float, Cash sales, Expected, Counted, Banked and Variance.
  • Top items — the ten best sellers by value.
  • Transactions — every sale, linking to its receipt.

Select Print for a paper copy — the app's menus are left off the page.
